Semi-automatic multihead weighers | This way you are saving time and money

Semi-automatic multihead weighers offer an efficient weighing and packaging solution for products that are currently still being weighed manually. Below you will find a description of the function of these semi-automatic combination weighers.

The semi-automatic multihead weighers are manufactured by Yamato Scale in two versions:

Function and application of semi-automatic multihead weighers

The type TSDW-205W and TSDW-206W semi-automatic multihead weighers are equipped with individual actuator units which are connected to a control computer. The principle of operation resembles that of an automatic multihead weigher. The difference here is that the product to be weighed is placed on the weighing surface by hand. The processor instantly calculates the desired combination and activates the conveyor belts of the relevant actuator units. These discharge the product to the central conveyor belt, thereby enabling a quick transport. Simultaneously, the main computer is already calculating the next possible combination. Using the latest technology, Yamato’s semi-automatic multihead weighers are able to work out up to 30 combinations per minute, depending on the model of the machine.

Fresh products

The machine is optimally suited for the weighing of high-quality single items with predetermined weights that are destined to be sold in the self-service section of supermarkets. Meat in the form of cutlets, goulash or sausages as well as fish and sea food are examples here. Semi-automatic multihead weighers are also extensively used in the weighing and packaging of fresh fruit and vegetables. The conventional portioning methods lead to a significant deviation from the target weight. By legal requirement, the minimal volume contained in a package is not allowed to fall below the amount indicated on the label. As the products can mostly not be divided up, this often leads to a surplus of product in the package. Numerous tests conducted for our customers have shown that there is a quick return on investment; in the case of beef goulash, for example, as soon as 6 months. This is only possible due to the reduction of surplus weight in the packages.

With its excellent hygienic properties (IP65), the weigher can be used for virtually any application while respecting the hygiene standards of the international food industry. Furthermore the use of human manpower, which generally represents a risk factor in the food industry, is greatly reduced.

Cost saving

Another positive effect of reduced manpower is the lowering of personnel costs. For the same amount of volume produced, the companies using Yamato’s semi-automatic multihead weighers comparatively only have a tenth of the personnel costs.

A further important advantage of this quick weighing and packaging is the preservation of the quality of the product. In the case of meat and fish, it is particularly important to handle the packaging of the product quickly and without damage to the product.
